Britomart Station CPO Restoration

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Woods Glass is proud to have played a key role in the restoration of the historic Britomart Station CPO (Chief Post Office) building, an integral part of the City Rail Link (CRL) project. CRL is New Zealand’s largest-ever transport infrastructure project, poised to revolutionize public transport in Auckland by constructing the country’s first underground railway, spanning 3.45 kilometers from Britomart to Mt Eden Station.

Our involvement in this landmark project includes:

  • Internal Sliding Doors Below High-Level Glazed Lights: Enhancing the building's functionality and maintaining its architectural integrity.
  • Ticketing Barrier with Mirror Polished Stainless Steel Posts: Providing a sleek and durable solution for the station's ticketing area.
  • Ballistic Rated Ticketing Screens: Ensuring the safety and security of station personnel and passengers.
  • Column Bases: Complementing the building’s heritage features with custom stainless steel work.
  • Refurbishment of the Glazed Bridge and Balustrades: Restoring and upgrading the iconic glazed bridge and balustrades that overlook the station, preserving the building’s historic charm.

Woods Glass undertook the stainless steel work with meticulous attention to the heritage aspects of the building, ensuring that modern upgrades harmoniously blend with the CPO's historic features. This restoration not only revitalizes a key piece of Auckland’s architectural heritage but also enhances the functionality and safety of the station, supporting the transformative vision of the CRL project.

We are honored to contribute to the preservation and modernization of this iconic structure, reaffirming our commitment to excellence in glass and stainless steel solutions.
