TwinPane is the combination of two panes of glass separated by an air gap, also known as secondary glazing. There are many benefits to using TwinPane such as improved acoustic dampening, reduced heat loss due to the air gap and increased energy efficiency.
TwinPane is designed for use in office spaces where noise control is a very high priority. A meeting room where sensitive information is discussed is an example of where TwinPane can be used.
An airgap of 100-200mm is commonly used for TwinPane, anything larger may become an inefficient and expensive use of floor area.
TwinPane can be used in conjunction with SoundPane for even greater noise control.
Air gap size will determine the acoustic properties of the TwinPane system, along with the type of glass used. TwinPane in combination with SoundPane will provide the best acoustic properties. All glass must be engineered to specific code and design. Please contact Woods Glass to find out more information.
Normally when cleaning glass, a vinegar-based glass cleaner or mild dish soap and water with a soft, lint-free cloth or paper products is recommended. A squeegee or soft cloth may be carefully used to dry the glass and help avoid water spots.
It is not recommended to use petroleum-based cleaners or solvents as they can streak the glass and weaken the seal between the glass and frame. Avoid washing in direct sunlight to reduce streaking on the glass.
Never use razor blades, steel wool, putty knives or abrasive pads as they may damage the glass, particularly on toughened glass.
TwinPane is manufactured in a large variety of sizes in order to minimise loss due to cutting. TwinPane can be used in a Laminate combination for safety in high impact areas and for increased noise control. Many different thicknesses are available and curved and shaped glass is also available. Please contact Woods Glass to discuss special requirements.
We recommend using Masterspec 4612WG Woods Glass Interior Glazing when specifying this system.
